I believe that we don't go to Heaven when we die, but, kinda like what you said: I believe there is a "holding" place for Judgment of the righteous and wicked in Hades.

1. I do believe that if someone confess Jesus as their Lord and Savior both in Life (repentance in truth) and Heart that they will be forgiven for their sins, on the contrary, I believe also that a person must maintain this walk of faith until the End (End meaning: Their Death and/or Christ's return)
I believe that a person that doesn't believe stands condemn already (John 3:16). So having that said, when it comes to the warnings of Hell, that Jesus (most of the time) is referring to believers not unbelievers.
